In a Madrid apartment block, a leak quickly reaches the flat below. We attend for:

  • visible leaks or tracing a leak hidden in the wall;
  • blocked toilet, sink or shower that no longer drains, obstructed pipes;
  • water damage and making the property safe;
  • tap, cistern or hose that gives way;
  • water heater (termo) that has failed or is leaking.

In the meantime: turn off the main water supply, often near the meter or under the kitchen sink.

Do you attend at night, at weekends and on public holidays?
Yes, the emergency line is open 24/7. We talk through the problem with you on the phone and tell you when we can be on site.
What should I do in the event of water damage in Spain?
Turn off the water at the main stopcock, make the electrics safe if water is near the sockets, then take photos. Tell your home insurer (the insurance claim form is called a parte de siniestro) and, if the leak comes from a neighbour or the shared areas, the administrator of the comunidad de propietarios (the building’s owners’ association). We can repair the cause, then give you a quote for the restoration work for the insurance assessor (perito).
What does an emergency plumber or electrician call-out involve?
It depends on the time of day, the journey and the nature of the fault. We tell you the call-out cost by phone before we come, and you approve the work on site before we start.
The power has tripped: what should I check before calling?
Look at your fuse board (cuadro eléctrico). If the main switch (ICP) or a residual current device is down, unplug the appliances in the affected room and switch it back up. If it trips again, or if the whole building is in the dark, call us: the fault may come from the installation or from the distribution network.
Do you attend shops and offices?
Yes: shops, restaurants, practices and offices. In a business, a power failure or a broken shop window cannot wait.
How can I tell if I have rising damp?
Typical signs are damp marks at the foot of walls, up to about a metre high, blistering paint, saltpetre (a white deposit) and a musty smell on the ground floor. A leak tends to show higher up or around windows, and condensation on cold walls and glass. A survey with a damp meter settles the question.
How do you treat rising damp?
We treat the cause first, often by injecting a water-repellent resin at the base of the walls to form a waterproof barrier, sometimes with drainage or better ventilation. Once the wall is dry, we redo the plaster and paint with suitable products. Every case gets a diagnosis and a quote.
